Eficacia de la formulación de triclabendazol y fenbendazol (valbazen® plus 17%) en vacunos infectados en forma natural con fasciola hepatica y strongylus sp.”
Descripción del Articulo
In this study we determined the effectiveness of a new formulation (Valbazen ® Plus 17% - Pfizer, Inc.) which contains as active ingredients micronized triclabendazole (12g/100mL) and micronized fenbendazole (5g/100mL). 30 animals were used from the Creole Peña Blanca, Yanacancha, Pasco, with positi...

Sumario: | In this study we determined the effectiveness of a new formulation (Valbazen ® Plus 17% - Pfizer, Inc.) which contains as active ingredients micronized triclabendazole (12g/100mL) and micronized fenbendazole (5g/100mL). 30 animals were used from the Creole Peña Blanca, Yanacancha, Pasco, with positive examination for Fasciola hepatica and Strongylus sp, which were divided into two groups: experimental and control animals each one by 15 cows. The experimental group was treated with the formulation (Valbazen ® Plus 17% - Pfizer, Inc.) and it was administered 1 mL of suspension per kg live weight of each animal (0.12g from 0.05g of triclabendazole and fenbendazole per kg bodyweight) while the control group received the same formulation, but without the imidazols. Fecal samples were taken directly from the rectum of the animal, every seven days, from day -2 to day 60 (-2, 7, 14, 28 and 60 - day 0 being the day on which the animal received the drug Control / Experimental). The parameter for evaluating the effectiveness of each treatment group compared with the control without treatment, was measured by the number of eggs found per gram feces (EPG) obtained in the days evaluated using the formula of Powers et al (percent efficiency). Finally it was determined that the formulation under study has an efficiency of 96.61% for Fasciola hepatica and 97.56% for Strongylus sp. to the 7-day trial |
