| Sumario: | Inland waters, particularly rivers and lakes are a natural and essential resource for its importance in the continuity of life. In recent years the ecological status in some of the basing of La Libertad region have been affected due to the expansion of the agricultural frontier, increasing human population and mining development, have increased pressure on these ecosystems and the impact on water quality; thus the water ecological status was determined using physicochemical and biological parameters (benthic diatoms) in the basins of the Perejil, Chuyuhual and Caballo Moro rivers; the study was conducted during the months of July and October of 2015, were evaluated in 19 sampling stations (dry and wet season). The biological samples obtained were processed in the laboratory of Botany of the UNT for and identification and counting, the diversity index Shannon & Wiener index (H') and quality indexes IPS (Index Specific Polusensiblidad) and IBD (Biological Diatom Index), using the free software PAST-PROGRAM, version 1.85 y OMNIDIA data base. The genres greater abundance in the three basins consisted of: Achnanthidium, Brachysira, Encyonema, Fragilaria, Frustulia, Gomphonema, Nitzschia, Reimeria, Rhoicosphenia Tabellaria y Ulnaria. Also, an index of diversity (H’) oscillating between 0.828 cel bits -1 and 3.008 cel bits -1, indicating mostly points a “Light Pollution to Moderate Pollution", and autoecological index (IPS and IBD) was obtained an ecological status of rivers, mostly “Good” for dry and “Very good” season to the wet season.
