The Ministry of Agriculture (MINAG), given the forecast of the presence of the “El Niño” phenomenon; during 1997 he acquired a machinery pool, to carry out prevention actions and in 1998 and 1999 he acquired a second pool of heavy machinery for earthworks. This machinery was distributed through the Agroindustrial, Agricultural and Heavy Machinery Program (PMAAP) to the regions affected by the “El Niño” phenomenon; Currently, heavy machinery services are aimed at executing specific activities of riparian defenses: Channeling and cascading which are executed by the Program of River Channels and Structural Protection (PERPEC). The heavy machinery selected to carry out the riverine defense works in the work of Channel and Castling in the sectors of Huaca del Sol and the Moon and Espino Limón –Santo Dominguito located in the Moche Valley consists of a D155AX-5 bulldozer, hydraulic excavators PC 220 - 6 and PC 300 - 6, front loader WA320 and tippers NL-10 and NL-12. those that have been analyzed and considered in the selection of the machinery being the most appropriate to achieve the projected hourly production. The hourly production of the selected machine is 377.23 m3 / hr, with an average distance of 32.5m for the bulldozer; Excavator in the nail excavation heading of 120.35 m3 / hr. 57.17 m3 / hr. Castling of slope of 24.45 m3 / hr dump trucks NL-12 of 6.72 m3 / hr working a distance of 36.5 km. the criteria that have been considered for the selection of the Heavy Machinery Pool are the appropriate ones, compliance with the criteria of: Classification of the equipment according to the type of machine, Use of the equipment according to the work, Selection of the Transmission of the force of the machine, Selection of the equipment or installed capacity of the machine which is based on the distance that allows to obtain a higher hourly production with low cost of production in the works of channeling and embedded in the sectors of study of the Moche valley.
