Sumario:The objective of this article is to measure the extent of existing urban green areas and the relationship with the number of inhabitants. The sample conforms to the area of public spaces with vegetation covering more than 50% of its total area, located within the limits of the consolidated urban area. As a result, it is observed that the 8 urban sectors that make up the study area do not meet the minimum target established; in addition, it is observed that the green area is inversely proportional to population density, the higher the population density, the lower the green area per inhabitant, and in turn is directly proportional to the levels of socio-economic stratum, lower socioeconomic stratum or no green area per inhabitant. It is recommended to develop strategies and public policies aimed at articulating urban green areas with the elements of the ecological structure, thus forming corridors of green public space.
