| Sumario: | The citrus performance has a well-deserved recognition due to its potential in regional, national and international trade. As of 2020, the Piura region had a 54.9% share in lemon production, ranking first nationally, and also has rich soils due to the number of valleys and cultivation areas. The objective of the research was to analyze the economic and climatic determinants of lemon production in the Piura region, period 2000 - 2020 with the purpose of determining the economic factors and those related to climatic changes that intervene in lemon production. For this purpose, the Autoregressive Vector Model with Error Correction was used. The data has been obtained from the National Institute of Statistics and Informatics, Central Reserve Bank of Peru, International Monetary Fund, Commission for the Promotion of Peru for Exports and Tourism, Ministry of Agriculture and Weather Online. The results show that Piura's lemon production is inversely related to the growth rate of the maximum temperature (-0.125), the GDP of Peru (-0.11) and the exchange rate (-0.02); while, it is directly related to the growth rate of the minimum temperature (0.07) and the GDP of Chile (0.037); however, the level of rainfall and the domestic and export prices do not have a significant effect. |
