Comportamiento estacional del viento entre los años 2015 y 2021 en Tarapoto, San Martín, Perú.

This study analyzes the wind behavior in the vicinity of Tarapoto Airport between 2015 and 2021 using hourly wind speed and direction data. Wind variability was assessed at hourly and seasonal levels, describing its behavior throughout the year, differentiating the occurrence of light and calm winds. Wind data were obtained from METAR reports at Tarapoto Airport. Hourly and seasonal averages of wind speed and direction were calculated. The results show that wind speed in Tarapoto exhibits moderate variability, with a predominance of weak to moderate intensity winds, with variable direction, ranging from southwest to northwest. The seasonal hourly wind average shows a differentiated seasonal behavior, with higher speeds in summer and spring and lower wind speeds in autumn and winter. The occurrence of light and calm winds was more frequent in the morning hours, especially in the autumn months. Understanding wind behavior in the vicinity of Tarapoto Airport can contribute to aviation safety, urban planning, and agricultural practices such as pest control and crop pollination.
