Descripción
Sumario:This quantitative, correlational, and non-experimental research aimed to determine the relationship between public spending and out-of-pocket spending on health and medications in the department of Loreto between 2022 and 2024. Loreto is characterized by facing challenges in access to and quality of health services due to logistical limitations that prevent adequate and timely medical care and drug distribution. During the analyzed period, a growing trend in public spending on health care was observed (average growth of 5.88%) and a decreasing trend in out-of-pocket spending (average year-on-year variation of -15.32%). However, after performing the inferential analysis, no significant relationship was found between the variables (Sig.> 0.05). This result underscores the urgency of aligning budget programming with the actual demand for health services, strengthening primary care, and ensuring the regular supply of medications. This would maximize the substitution effect of public health spending on the out-of-pocket spending of Loreto families.
