Descripción
Sumario:Urinary tract infections (UTIs) belong to the group of infectious pathologies with the highest occurrence in different age groups, frequently implicated in health care-associated infections. UTIs caused by extended-spectrum beta-lactamase (ESBL)-producing microorganisms have become more important in recent years, due to the high rates of morbidity and mortality. One of the greatest threats to public health worldwide is the increase in bacterial resistance to antibiotics, for which the treatment of UTI is considered an increasing challenge. It is necessary in our country to carry out studies to know the hospital reality about the clinical and epidemiological factors of UTIs, mainly those infections caused by antimicrobial-resistant Enterobacteriaceae, in this way to generate awareness among health personnel and the general population about the risks of developing this disease. Objective: To evaluate the factors associated with urinary tract infection by extended-spectrum beta-lactamase-producing enterobacteria at the EsSalud III Iquitos Hospital 2019-2021. Methodology: Quantitative, observational, analytical, cross-sectional and retrospective study, will include all patients 18 years of age or older admitted to Hospital EsSalud III Iquitos who present urinary tract infection with a positive urine culture result for enterobacteria, from 2019 to 2021.
