Sumario:The objective was to determine the relationship between extrinsic and intrinsic factors and the risk of falls in older adults at the Años Dorados Center of the Loreto Regional Hospital in Iquitos 2024. This study was quantitative, non experimental, descriptive, cross-sectional, and correlational. The sample consisted of 56 older adults. The results obtained were: of all older adults in the study, 92.9% had suffered falls in the previous 12 months. The most frequent intrinsic factors found were visual problems (67.9%); hearing problems (44.6%); difficulty walking (55.4%); Regarding extrinsic risk factors, of the 100% of older adults, 76.7% reported a lack of handrails/bars in their bathroom and/or shower, 66.1% "do not have handrails or railings on their stairs," 80.3% "have cracked or uneven floors or sidewalks in the street," 78.6% "have objects lying on the floor of their home," 57.1% "have insufficient lighting in their home," and 57.1% "have a home with wet and slippery floors." They concluded that there is a relationship between extrinsic and intrinsic factors and the risk of falls in older adults, as evidenced by the p-values = 0.024 for intrinsic factors and p-value = 0.012 for extrinsic factors.
