| Sumario: | The National Council of Education et al. (2022) mentions that, although the increase in resources in the education sector over the last two decades has improved access to basic education in the country, this investment has been insufficient to address significant educational gaps or achieve the objectives established in the National Strategic Plan (PEN) 2021. This study examines expenditure patterns in education in the Loreto region, focusing on the relationship between the regional education sector budget and the total regional budget during the period 2018-2022. A quantitative observational approach was used, framed within a non-experimental correlational research design. The population consisted of educational sector budget data and the total budget of the Loreto region for the period 2018-2022, and document review was employed as the analysis technique. The identified variables were the regional education sector budget and the total budget of the Loreto region. The results show that the education sector budget in Loreto increased by 37.6% between 2018 and 2022, from S/ 1,172,512,052 to S/ 1,613,543,202, reflecting governmental commitment. The majority was allocated to personnel and social obligations (71.5% of the total), followed by the acquisition of non-financial assets (16.6%). Additionally, a positive relationship is observed between the regional education sector budget and the total budget of the Loreto region in terms of funding source, allocation, and budget execution. |
