Sumario: | GENERAL OBJECTIVE: To compare premedication with midazolam and ketamine intravenously in pediatric patients undergoing non-cardiac surgery treatment. Regional Hospital of Loreto 2022. MATERIALS AND METHODS: A quantitative, descriptive, analytical, cross-sectional, and retrospective study will be carried out, because previously made reports will be analyzed. The study population will be all those medical records of pediatric patients undergoing non-cardiac surgery between 2 and 8 years, of both sexes with ASA I and ASA II without respiratory pathologies and fasting after surgery who have received intravenously Midazolam at doses of 0.05 - 0.1 mg / kg or 0,2 – 0,5 mg / kg of ketamine weight, 10 to 15 minutes before the intervention. CONCLUSIONS: There are several drugs to relieve the child's anxiety during the preoperative period. Premedication is a routine act since the emergence of anesthesia and aims to reduce the child's anxiety, reduce anesthetics during surgery, improve the response of the autonomic nervous system and reduce the base metabolism. To date there is little evidence on the drug of choice in the pediatric population, being the most used drugs are Midazolam and Ketamine in our environment, so its evaluation is required. |
