| Sumario: | Rutin, a flavonol with bioactive properties, has multiple pharmacological activities such as antitumor, antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, etc. The present study aimed to identify rutin isolated from Preslianthus pittieri (Standl.) Iltis and Cornejo by determination of its physicochemical characteristics and by ultraviolet-visible spectrometry. The sample was collected in the Arboretum "El Huayo" located in the university town of Zungarococha of the UNAP. The sample was decreased in the Soxhlet equipment with petroleum ether, and macerated in ethanol, the residue was diluted with carbon tetrachloride and extracted with distilled water, concentrated and left to rest, recrystallized with methanol and water. Yellow crystals were obtained, and the values of the physicochemical parameters measured were: specific optical rotation [?] = +13,82, the Rf values in one-dimensional TLC in silica gel was 0.3 and in polyamide 0.3 respectively; while in two-dimensional chromatography run in TBA was 0.44 and in NaOAc 0.56. By Rast's method, the molecular weight determined was 610.77 g/mol. Spectrometric measurement in UV/visible equipment in sodium acetate showed the following maximum wavelengths: 271, 325, and 393 nm. All the parameters determined were similar to those reported in the literature for this molecule studied in other plant species; consequently, the flavonol isolated from the leaves of P. pittieri (Standl.) Iltis and Cornejo is routine, and may constitute an alternative source for extracting this compound. |
