Descripción
Sumario:This study is justified by the imperative to analyze the management and contributions of observatories, which are essential in generating labor information and supporting decision-making at the regional level. The research aimed to describe the management process of a Socioeconomic Labor Observatory (OSEL), identify its contributions, highlight key organizational characteristics, and propose action plans to enhance its presence and effectiveness. A qualitative methodology was employed, using a non probabilistic sample, which included in-depth interviews and questionnaires administered to current and former representatives of OSELs and the Directorate of Socioeconomic Labor Research (DISEL). These methods facilitated the collection of their perceptions. The results highlighted the importance of an OSEL in producing labor-related information and how its management varies depending on the political and financial support received, as well as the training of its personnel. While some OSELs have maintained their relevance due to financial and human resources, others, such as the OSEL Loreto, have ceased operations due to budget constraints and lack of interest from authorities. The study emphasized the importance of institutionalizing OSELs in official documents, improving dissemination strategies, and exploring innovative funding sources to ensure their continuity and impact on regional planning.
