The purpose of this research was to determine how the sanitary and environmental characterisation influences the proposal of a solid waste management plan in the Santa Gema Hospital in Yurimaguas, District of Yurimaguas, Loreto - 2019. Opting for a basic study with a quantitative approach and descriptive design, the sample consisted of 169 respondents for the survey conducted with a questionnaire for data collection. The findings show that 16% of the health and environmental characterisation variable is rated as deficient. In turn, the variable solid waste management is rated as regular in 42.0%; therefore, it is determined that between the variables there is a significance of p=0.000. Likewise, the composition and generation of solid waste presents a significance of p=0.000; likewise, the sanitary impact derived from waste management shows a significance of p=0.000; also, the environmental impact of waste management shows a significance of p=0.000. Finally, the need to improve the waste management plan shows a significance of p=0.000; these dimensions are significantly and positively related to solid waste management.
