| Sumario: | The purpose was to establish a relationship between the management of the domestic water treatment system and its microbiological quality, for consumption in residents benefited by Kits, district of San Juan Bautista. The method used was quantitative, observational, cross-sectional and correlational. The sample consisted of 199 inhabitants. Interview and observation were used as techniques, and instruments were used as a checklist and sampling sheet and microbiological evaluation of the quality of the treated water (validity % 82.0% and reliability 81.3%). The results obtained were: age (X ̅±S) 44.1 ± 11.6 years; Grade of education: secondary 57.3%, primary 17.1%, higher 19.6% and no education 6.0%; family members: 4 (30.7%), 5 (27.1%), 3 (24.1%), 6 (12.6%), 2 (4.5%) and 7 (1.0%); 31.2% of the inhabitants stated that they had children < 5 years of age (where 56.5% did not present diarrhea and only 43.5% did) and 68.8% did not < 5 years of age. Correct management in the procedure of intra-household water treatment (60.3%) and incorrect (39.7%); optimal water level for consumption (54.8%) and non-optimal (45.2%). When relating both variables, an X2=117,715 was obtained; p = 0.001 < 0.05 evidencing statistical significance between both variables. In conclusion, a correct management of the household water treatment system, in the inhabitants benefited by Kits, tends to guarantee the quality of the water for consumption. |
