Departamento Académico de Recursos HídricosLa presente tesis trazo como objetivo proponer una solución a la problemática actual del área urbana del distrito de Chacas, provincia de Asunción, departamento de Áncash, mediante el mejoramiento y ampliación del sistema de agua potable. La propuesta se sustentó en estudios básicos previos y contempló la renovación de redes, ampliaciones en sectores deficitarios y mejoramiento de infraestructura hidráulica, garantizando una vida útil mínima de 20 años. Se inició con un diagnóstico técnico que permitió definir un sistema por gravedad, partiendo de la captación en un río cuya fuente es glaciar, cuya disponibilidad fue validada mediante un balance hídrico con el software WEAP. La captación se diseñó con componentes como vertedero tipo Creager, barraje móvil y fijo, ventana de captación y poza disipadora. El modelamiento hidráulico fue realizado con el software WaterCAD, abarcando todos los componentes: captación, línea de conducción con 5 cámaras rompe presión tipo VI, planta de tratamiento de agua potable, reservorio, línea de aducción y redes de distribución, que incluyen 7 cámaras rompe presión tipo VII. Además, se incorporaron válvulas de aire, purga y control para asegurar el funcionamiento hidráulico óptimo del sistema y garantizar la cobertura de la demanda. El diseño propuesto prioriza la eficiencia operativa y sostenibilidad, beneficiando directamente a los 2,650 habitantes del área urbana de Chacas. Esta planificación responde a las proyecciones de crecimiento poblacional a 20 años, asegurando una distribución continua y segura del recurso hídrico. En conclusión, la propuesta es técnicamente viable, anticipa las futuras necesidades de la población y establece una infraestructura adecuada para el abastecimiento de agua potable, consolidando una mejora significativa en la calidad de vida de los habitantes.The objective of this thesis is to propose a solution to the current problems in the urban area of the district of Chacas, province of Asunción, department of Áncash, through the improvement and expansion of the drinking water system. The proposal was based on previous basic studies and included the renovation of networks, expansion in deficient sectors, and improvement of hydraulic infrastructure, guaranteeing a minimum useful life of 20 years. It began with a technical diagnosis that allowed for the definition of a gravity-fed system, starting with the collection of water from a river whose source is a glacier, whose availability was validated through a water balance using WEAP software. The collection system was designed with components such as a Creager weir, mobile and fixed dams, a collection window, and a dissipation pool. Hydraulic modeling was performed using WaterCAD software, covering all components: intake, conveyance line with five type VI pressure-reducing chambers, drinking water treatment plant, reservoir, adduction line, and distribution networks, which include seven type VII pressure-reducing chambers. In addition, air, purge, and control valves were incorporated to ensure optimal hydraulic operation of the system and guarantee coverage of demand. The proposed design prioritizes operational efficiency and sustainability, directly benefiting the 2,650 inhabitants of the urban area of Chacas. This planning responds to 20-year population growth projections, ensuring continuous and safe distribution of water resources.
