Departamento Académico de Manejo ForestalEste documento sustenta la experiencia laboral como coordinador general en la Subgerencia de Parques y Jardines de la Municipalidad Distrital de San Miguel, donde se describe la aplicación de una herramienta digital con el fin de realizar el diagnóstico sobre la problemática ambiental del distrito, proponiendo mejoras vinculadas a la gestión ambiental. Como objetivo general se planteó evaluar los indicadores de servicios ecosistémicos del arbolado urbano usando la herramienta i-Tree Canopy para contribuir con un mejor manejo y gestión ambiental en el distrito de San Miguel. Para ello, se analizó la información proporcionada por el inventario forestal urbano, se reunió información demográfica y de áreas verdes, y se cuantificó la captura de carbono y la remoción de los principales agentes contaminantes del aire, aplicando la herramienta digital; así como interpretar los resultados obtenidos a partir de los indicadores ecosistémicos para proponer mejoras en el manejo de la cobertura arbórea. La metodología aplicada se basó en definir el área de estudio, diseñar el plan de trabajo de acuerdo a la problemática encontrada, levantar y procesar la información relevante obtenida a partir del inventario; posteriormente, aplicar la herramienta i-Tree Canopy, analizar los resultados, los mismos que permitieron identificar los insumos para la obtención de los indicadores ecosistémicos. El inventario forestal urbano identificó un total de 22 123 individuos de porte arbóreo; aplicando i-Tree Canopy se halló que el contaminante más removido fue el ozono (O3) con más de 7,8 toneladas/km²/año, seguido de PM10 con más de 2,2 toneladas/km²/año y que se secuestró 1 635,91 toneladas/km²/año de CO2 (equivalente); asimismo, como indicadores principales se tuvo que la cobertura arbórea per cápita fue de 9,4 m²/habitante y que existen 0,14 árboles/persona. Estos resultados permitieron reajustar el plan de trabajo para mejorar la gestión del arbolado urbano, a través del incremento y diversificación de especies en la arborización.This document supports the work experience as general coordinator in the Department of Parks and Gardens of the District Municipality of San Miguel, where the application of a digital tool is described in order to carry out the diagnosis of the environmental problems of the district, proposing improvements related to environmental management. As a general objective, it was proposed to evaluate the indicators of ecosystem services of urban trees using the i-Tree Canopy tool to contribute to better management and environmental management in the district of San Miguel.
