Departamento Académico de FitotecniaEn este trabajo de investigación se utilizaron dos lotes de maíz amarillo duro híbrido DK7088, TUH00832 y 3C2AE974C, con el fin de identificar las diferencias de vigor entre ellos, determinar cuál de las dos pruebas de vigor realizadas detecta mejor la diferencia de calidad entre los lotes, y establecer la correlación que hay entre los resultados de las pruebas de laboratorio con los de la emergencia en campo. Por esta razón, se evaluó la germinación de los lotes con las pruebas estándar, de frío, envejecimiento acelerado y la emergencia en campo mediante la siembra en suelo y en bandejas. En todos los casos se llevó a cabo una clasificación de plántulas, donde se consideró como vigorosas a las plántulas normales usando como criterio de clasificación lo establecido por ISTA (2016). Con los resultados de la prueba de germinación estándar, de las dos pruebas de vigor y de la prueba en campo se pudo clasificar a los dos lotes según su calidad, además con el análisis estadístico de estas pruebas, se detectó diferencias significativas entre ambos lotes. De esta manera, se determinó que el lote TUH00832 mostró mayor vigor que el lote 3C2AE974C debido a que obtuvo un mayor porcentaje de plántulas normales en todas las pruebas. Asimismo, la prueba que mejor se correlacionó con la emergencia de semillas en campo fue la prueba de envejecimiento acelerado.This work has been done with two lots of hard yellow hybrid corn, TUH00832 and 3C2AE974C, to identify the differences between their vigor and determine which of the tests performed compares vigor between lots and establish the correlation between the results of the laboratory tests and field emergency. For this reason, the lots were subjected to the tests of the standard germination, cold test, accelerated aging, and emergence in the field by planting in soil and in trays. In all cases, a seedling classification was carried out, where normal seedlings were considered as vigorous, using as established by ISTA (2016). The results of standard germination, the two vigor tests and the field test allowed to classify the two lots according their quality, also the statistical analysis of these tests showed significant differences between both lots. TUH00832 lot had greater vigor than 3C2AE974C lot because it obtained a higher percentage of normal seedlings in all tests.
