Departamento Académico de EntomologíaEl cultivo de fresa en el Perú ha venido adquiriendo mayor importancia, esto debido al incremento del consumo tanto interno como externo, por ello la fruta cosechada debe ser de buena calidad, libre de defectos por ataque de enfermedades y plagas. Actualmente el cultivo de fresa tiene infestaciones de diversas plagas, de las cuales destacan los ácaros, los cuales afectan el desarrollo del cultivo. El ácaro Tetranychus urticae Koch (arañita roja), es una de las principales plagas que afecta a la fresa en el Perú. Inicia su infestación en el tercio inferior de la planta. Los adultos y ninfas extraen los nutrientes de las hojas maduras, localizándose en el envés. Uno de los síntomas del ataque de la arañita roja es manchas cloróticas en las hojas, lo cual trae como consecuencia la disminución de la tasa fotosintética y se incrementa la tasa de respiración.Strawberry cultivation in Peru has been acquiring greater importance, due to the increase in both internal and external consumption, which is why the harvested fruit must be of good quality, free of defects due to disease and pest attacks. Currently, the strawberry crop has infestations of various pests, one of them being mites, which affects the normal development of the plants. The Tetranychus urticae Koch mite (red spider mite) is one of the main pests that affects strawberries in Peru. Its infestation begins in the lower third of the plant. Adults and nymphs extract nutrients from mature leaves, locating on the underside.
