Desde el año 2012, la Municipalidad Metropolitana de Lima, ha visto la necesidad de identificar estos ecosistemas denominándolos “unidades ecológicas” y ha priorizado acciones que permitan poner en valor dichos espacios naturales. Uno de esto espacios priorizados ha sido el Sistema de Lomas Costeras de Lima, que son considerados ecosistemas frágiles por el Ministerio de Desarrollo Agrario y Riego y que, dadas sus condiciones de vulnerabilidad ante la presión urbana, necesitan de acciones concretas para su protección. Este trabajo de Suficiencia Profesional presenta la experiencia desarrolla por el equipo técnico de la Municipalidad Metropolitana de Lima, a través de su Programa de Gobierno Regional de Lima Metropolitana, para lograr el Establecimiento del Área de Conservación Regional Sistema de Lomas de Lima, con una extensión de más de 13 mil hectáreas y representa la primera área de conservación para la ciudad de Lima.The expansion of the city of Lima, over the years, has generated the deterioration and loss of the ecosystems that compose it. Since 2012, the Metropolitan Municipality of Lima has seen the need to identify these ecosystems calling them "ecological units" and has prioritized actions that allow these natural spaces to be valued. One of these prioritized spaces has been the System of Lomas of Lima, which are considered fragile ecosystems by the Ministry of Agrarian Development and Irrigation and which, given their conditions of vulnerability to urban pressure, need concrete actions for their protection.
