Se evaluaron 165 híbridos simples, que fueron obtenidos por cruzamiento entre líneas peruanas S.4 y líneas S.6 de procedencia del Centro Internacional de Mejoramiento de Maíz y Trigo – CIMMYT, México, 3 híbridos simples comerciales y una variedad de libre polinización. El experimento se llevó a cabo en los terrenos de la Universidad Npacional Agraria La Molina, utilizando un Diseño Estadístico de Látice Simple 13x13 con dos repeticiones. Las variables evaluadas incluyeron: altura de planta, altura de mazorca, diámetro del tallo, humedad del grano a la cosecha, prolificidad, longitud de mazorca, diámetro de mazorca, número de hileras por mazorca, número de granos por 2 hileras, índice de desgrane, peso de 200 granos y rendimiento de grano. El comportamiento de los 169 genotipos mostró una gran variabilidad en todas las características estudiadas. El rendimiento de grano osciló entre 1.2 y 15.3 t/ha, destacando 21 híbridos que superaron las 12 t/ha, un rendimiento comparable al de los híbridos comerciales. Además, se identificaron cinco genotipos con los rendimientos más altos y menor altura de planta, estos fueron los híbridos: H087, H008, H137, H022 y H119, con rendimiento de 14.5, 12.5, 12.3, 11.3 y 10.9 t/ha, respectivamente.The objective of this research was to determine the performance of 169 genotypes of hard yellow corn (Zea mays L.) in order to make selection, considering grain yield as the main variable. 165 simple hybrids were evaluated, which were obtained by crossing Peruvian lines S.4 and S.6 lines from the International Maize and Wheat Improvement Center - CIMMYT, Mexico, 3 commercial simple hybrids and a free-pollinated variety. The experiment was carried out on the grounds of the National Agrarian University La Molina, using a 13x13 Simple Statistical Lattice Design with two replications. The variables evaluated include: plant height, ear height, stem diameter, grain moisture at harvest, prolificacy, ear length, ear diameter, number of rows per ear, number of grains per 2 rows, shelling index, weight of 200 grains and grain yield. The performance of the 169 genotypes showed great variability in all the characteristics studied. Grain yield ranged from 1.2 to 15.3 t/ha, highlighting 21 hybrids that exceeded 12 t/ha, a yield comparable to that of commercial hybrids.
