Departamento Académico de Ingeniería Ambiental, Física y MeteorologíaLa sierra peruana se caracteriza por presentar un régimen anual de precipitación, el cual esta usualmente asociado a un verano austral húmedo y a un invierno seco. La precipitación en esta región juega un papel muy importante para la economía de la sociedad peruana en su conjunto, así como para los diversos ecosistemas del país. En este sentido, se evaluó, a nivel diario, la precipitación de cuatro bases de datos grillados de precipitación, PISCO, CHIRPS, TRMM y ERA5, con el fin de identificar el inicio, fin y duración de la estación lluviosa; así como comparar los resultados entre las cuatro fuentes. Se identificó que el inicio de la estación lluviosa presenta una marcada distribución espacial, en sentido NO - SE, iniciándose primero en la vertiente oriental de los Andes y progresando lentamente hacia la vertiente occidental, en un periodo promedio de cinco meses. El fin de la estación lluviosa presenta una leve variabilidad espacial en sentido S – N y su establecimiento ocurre en un periodo menor, de tres meses en promedio. La duración de la estación lluviosa tiene una distribución espacial muy similar a la del inicio y varía entre 2 y 6 meses en promedio. La comparación entre las cuatro bases de datos reveló mayor similitud entre los resultados obtenidos del PISCO y CHIRPS; mientras que los resultados del ERA5 fueron los que se diferencian en mayor medida del resto de base de datos. Estos resultados pueden ser usados para mejorar los pronósticos estacionales de precipitación en los Andes peruanos, los cuales, a su vez, tienen gran implicancia en el desarrollo de las actividades socioeconómicas de la región, así como para la perduración de los ecosistemas del país.The Peruvian Andean mountains are characterized for present an annual precipitation regimen, which is associated with a wet austral summer and a dry winter. In this region, precipitation plays an important role for the economy of the entire Peruvian society, and for the diverse ecosystems of the country. This study evaluated daily precipitation information form four datasets, PISCO, CHIRPS, TRMM, and ERA5 in order to identify the climatological wet season timing, as well as compare the results among the four data sources. Results revel that the wet season onset exhibits a well define spatial distribution, in NW – SE orientation, beginning first on the eastern slope of the Andes and progressing slowly towards the western slope, in an average period of five months. The end of the wet season presents a slight spatial variability in S – N direction, and the establishment of the dry season occurs in a shorter period, three months on average. The duration of the wet season has a spatial distribution very similar to the onset and varies between 2 to 6 months on average. Comparison between the four databases reveal greater similarity between the results obtained from PISCO and CHIRPS; while the results of the ERA5 were the ones that differ the most from the rest of the datasets.
