Escuela de Posgrado. Maestría en NutriciónLa presente investigación se desarrolló en los distritos de Lurigancho y Ate de Lima-Perú, en las poblaciones: La Era y Huaycán respectivamente. El objetivo fue determinar la efectividad de un programa de educación nutricional en alimentación complementaria sobre los conocimientos y buenas prácticas en madres con niños de 6 a 36 meses de edad, para ello se consideraron los principios recomendados por la OMS/FAO. Se programó tomar un pre test y post test con temas relacionados al respecto. La capacitación educativa se hizo en dos grupos: un grupo de madres fueron capacitadas en forma personalizada a través de visitas domiciliarias y otro grupo fue capacitado en forma grupal en un Centro de Salud. La capacitación educativa se hizo a través de la elaboración de materiales educativos, talleres demostrativos con recetas y guías de alimentación complementaria. Dentro de cada test se realizó un diagnostico situacional a las madres. El estudio se aplicó durante 6 meses, previo consentimiento informado de las madres. Para el procesamiento de datos estadísticos se utilizó el programa SPSS versión 20.0 y la prueba de la T de student de muestras relacionadas. Asimismo los resultados obtenidos mostraron, con un 95 por ciento de confianza se estimó que el programa de educación nutricional en alimentación complementaria tuvo efecto significativo. Los resultados muestran que en el Pos Test, 100 por ciento de madres alcanzó un nivel de conocimientos Alto y el 88.5 por ciento tuvo buenas prácticasThis research was conducted in the districts of Ate and Lurigancho in Lima, Peru, in populations “La Era” and “Huaycan” respectively. The objective was to determine the effectiveness of a nutrition education program to promote improved knowledge and good practices on complementary feeding in mothers with children 6-36 months of age, based on recommended guiding principles of WHO/FAO.
