Departamento Académico de HorticulturaEste trabajo busca realizar un análisis retrospectivo y descriptivo que permitiese enmarcar la experiencia recogida de uno de los mayores abastecedores de productos frescos como es el Valle del Río Chillón, ubicado en el departamento de Lima, a través de la determinación de las condiciones óptimas para incrementar el rendimiento de los cultivares de lechuga americana sembradas en la actualidad, así como los procesos de producción ajustados a los requerimientos mínimos de calidad para no generar estrés en el producto final, facilitar su comercialización y satisfacer la demanda del mercado nacional. Todo ello, con el propósito de poder identificar las brechas en cuanto al manejo agronómico que se haya carente de apoyo por parte del estado peruano y de políticas que respalden la actividad de este sector para poder trazar puntos de mejora que propulsen el desarrollo económico de los agricultores que se dedican a esta actividad para el sustento de sus familias. La experiencia que se describe en este escenario se apoya de la revisión de la literatura e interacción con los agricultores, ingenieros agrónomos, técnicos de campo y tiendas agrícolas del Valle del río Chillón, obteniéndose información primaria que se muestra en el presente trabajo de suficiencia profesional.This work seeks to carry out a retrospective and descriptive analysis that would allow framing the experience collected from one of the largest suppliers of fresh products such as the Chillón River Valley, located in the department of Lima, through the determination of the optimal conditions to increase the yield of the American lettuce cultivars currently planted, as well as the production processes adjusted to the minimum quality requirements so as not to generate stress in the final product, facilitate its commercialization and satisfy the demand of the national market. All this, with the purpose of being able to identify the gaps in terms of agronomic management that has lacked support from the Peruvian state and policies that support the activity of this sector in order to draw points of improvement that promote the economic development of the farmers who are engaged in this activity to support their families.
