description Introducción: la diabetes tipo II es una enfermedad crónica causada por la incapacidad del cuerpo para utilizar la insulina de manera correcta, generalmente debido a factores asociados al sobrepeso, la inactividad física y factores hereditarios. Materiales y métodos: la investigación presentó un enfoque cualitativo, siendo no experimental, transversal, descriptiva y correlacional, la población estuvo conformada por los pacientes con diabetes tipo II que acudieron al hospital de la Solidaridad, ubicado en el distrito de Villa el Salvador del departamento de Lima, durante los meses de octubre a diciembre del 2022. El nivel de conocimiento y adherencia al tratamiento farmacológico se realizó desarrollando un cuestionario de 20 preguntas y la prueba Morisky Green, respectivamente. Resultados: el 68.4 % de los participantes calificaron con un nivel bajo, el 30.2% nivel medio y el 1.4% nivel alto de conocimiento sobre diabetes tipo II, mientras que el 83.7% se categorizaron como “no adherentes al tratamiento farmacológico” y el 16.3% indicó “adherencia al tratamiento farmacológico”. Conclusión: el nivel de conocimiento sobre diabetes tipo II y adherencia al tratamiento farmacológico en pacientes diabéticos que acudieron al hospital de la Solidaridad en el distrito de Villa el Salvador evidenció una asociación estadísticamente significativa con la prueba chi cuadrado.

El nivel de conocimiento y adherencia al tratamiento farmacológico se realizó desarrollando un cuestionario de 20 preguntas y la prueba Morisky Green, respectivamente. Resultados: el 68.4 % de los participantes calificaron con un nivel bajo, el 30.2% nivel medio y el 1.4% nivel alto de conocimiento sobre diabetes tipo II, mientras que el 83.7% se categorizaron como “no adherentes al tratamiento farmacológico” y el 16.3% indicó “adherencia al tratamiento farmacológico”.
