description La electroestimulación muscular es la utilización de la corriente eléctrica con fines terapéuticos. Se denominan corrientes electro-estimulantes a aquellas que provocan contracciones en el sistema músculo esquelético, por estimulación directa de las fibras eferentes motoras, en un tronco nervioso o en un punto motor del músculo. En esta revisión bibliográfica sobre la eficacia de la electroestimulación neuromuscular (EENM) en diferentes pacientes se redacta un marco teórico donde se expone el funcionamiento, los diferentes métodos de empleo y el efecto en el organismo de la utilización de la electroestimulación.
