Con el objetivo general de determinar la prevalencia y los factores asociados al aborto en el Hospital II EsSalud – Jaén, período 2012 – 2016. Se realizó un estudio analítico, retrospectivo, de corte transversal cuyo diseño fue casos y controles. La población muestral estuvo constituida por todos los casos de abortos registrados en el período y hospital antes mencionado, que cumplieron con los criterios de selección, las cuales fueron un total de 248. Los resultados fueron: ▪ La prevalencia de aborto durante el período de estudio fue 14.17%. ▪ Se halló que los factores asociados al aborto en nuestro estudio fueron: El tener una edad materna > 35 años, ser conviviente, proceder de zonas urbanas, contar con estudios secundarios, ser empleadas, no usar métodos anticonceptivos y haber iniciado su vida coital desde los 15 años de edad. (p < 0.05) ▪ La mayoría fueron multigestas de las cuales el 55.24% tuvieron una edad gestacional ≤ 12 semanas en el momento en que se produjo el aborto. ▪ Todas las pacientes presentaron complicaciones dentro de las cuales se encontraron a las Hemorragias (80.24%) y la Infección y/o Sepsis (19.76%). With the general objective of determining the prevalence and factors associated with abortion in the Hospital II EsSalud - Jaén, period 2012 - 2016. An analytical, retrospective, cross-sectional study was carried out whose design was cases and controls. The sample population was constituted by all the cases of abortions registered in the period and hospital mentioned above, which met the selection criteria, which were a total of 248. The main results were: ▪ The prevalence of abortion during the study period was 14.17%. ▪ It was found that the factors associated with abortion in our study were: Having a maternal age> 35 years, living together, coming from urban areas, having secondary education, being employed, not using contraception and having started their coital life from 15 years old (p <0.05) ▪ The majority were multigestates of which 55.24% had a gestational age ≤ 12 weeks at the time of the abortion. ▪ All the patients presented complications within which were found Bleeding (80.24%) and Infection and / or Sepsis (19.76%).
