Descripción
Sumario:The study examines the influence of strategic planning and managerial competencies on business competitiveness in micro and small enterprises (MSEs) in northern Peru. It was conducted using a quantitative, cross sectional design with a stratified random sample of 358 companies. The data were collected through a va lidated questionnaire using a 21 item Likert type scale. Statistical analyzes included ordinal logistic regression and Kendall’s tau b correlation. Among the main findings, it stands out that strategic planning and managerial skills significantly predict l evels of competitiveness, explaining the variability. Furthermore, it is evident that managerial competencies exhibit a stronger predictive power than formal planning. These findings provide actionable evidence for the design of policies and managerial tra ining programs in emerging economies. The study quantifies the predictive effect of managerial competencies on competitiveness within Latin American SMEs, advancing the resource and capabilities based management paradigms.
