description El estudio de investigación tuvo como objetivo determinar el efecto antifúngico in vitro del aceite esencial de hojas de Myrcianthes oreophila “Unkia” sobre Candida albicans comparado con Fluconazol. Se utilizó un diseño experimental con estímulo creciente, obteniéndose el aceite esencial, mediante el método de destilación por vapor de agua, para luego utilizar sus concentraciones al 50%, 75% y 100% determinando la actividad antifúngica mediante el método de difusión de discos de Kirby y Bauer, obteniendo como resultado que Candida albicans es sensible al aceite esencial a sus diversas concentraciones de 50% (9.6 mm), 75% (18.3 mm) y 100% (20.4 mm). Encontrándose que al aumentar la concentración del aceite esencial el efecto será mayor Así mismo si hubo diferencia significativa entre las medias de los resultados (p=0.000), al realizar el análisis de varianza (ANOVA) con un intervalo de confianza del 95%.
