description El objetivo fue determinar si la presencia de obesidad se asocia a pie diabético en el Hospital La Caleta (HLC) – Chimbote durante el 2023. Fue un estudio fue de tipo básico, Retrospectivo, Observacional de Casos y Controles, la muestra estuvo conformada por 152 historias clínicas (51 casos y 101 controles) de pacientes con diagnóstico de DM2 hospitalizados en el hospital La Caleta. Se realizó la revisión de historias clínicas y se llenó la ficha de recolección de datos, luego se creó la base de datos que fue procesada por el programa estadístico SPSS. Se determinó la asociación de obesidad y pie diabético (OR: 2.615), las personas obesas tienen más del doble de probabilidades de desarrollar pie diabético; Se estableció la relación entre pacientes con pie diabético y obesidad con el valor de Chi-cuadrado (7.254), (p = 0.007) indican que existe una relación significativa. La proporción de pacientes diabéticos y obesos con pie diabético es del 68,6%. La proporción de pacientes diabéticos y obesos sin pie diabético es de 45.5%. También se consideró la prevalencia de factores asociados como edad, sexo, hábitos tóxicos, enfermedades sistémicas, patologías predisponentes, y tratamiento hipoglucemiante. Finalmente determinamos la asociación de obesidad y pie diabético, estableciendo la obesidad como factor de riesgo del pie diabético, asimismo se estableció la relación significativa entre pacientes con pie diabético y obesidad.
