description Este estudio tuvo como objetivo general determinar la relación entre la depresión y vulnerabilidad suicida en los adultos mayores de un centro de prestaciones sociales, Jaén 2022. Para ello se trabajó mediante el enfoque cuantitativo, alcance correlacional y diseño no experimental, la muestra estuvo constituida por 201 adultos mayores. Los instrumentos utilizados fueron el cuestionario de Yesavage abreviado y la Escala Breve de Vulnerabilidad Suicida. Después del análisis de datos se obtuvo que, existe relación estadísticamente muy significativa y directa (p<0.01; rho: .278**) entre la depresión y vulnerabilidad suicida; asimismo, un 3.5% de adultos mayores demostró depresión establecida y un 44.3% riesgo de suicidio moderado; finalmente, las dimensiones acontecimientos vitales estresantes, problemas a corto plazo y suicidio en el entorno, mostraron relación con la depresión. Con todo ello, se puede concluir que, cuando el adulto mayor experimente altos niveles de depresión, tendrá mayor propensión o será más vulnerable al suicidio.
