Sumario:This study aims to analyze and understand the aspirations of female teenagers who are raised in vulnerable areas of Lima and Callao. To achieve these objectives, this research study used a qualitative approach of a descriptive and explorative character, and was developed by a phenomenological approach. Semi structured interviews were used to collect the experiences from eleven female teenagers from Puente Piedra and Ventanilla. The results showed that teenagers aspire to higher education and have diverse vocational and occupational interests. Some of the reasons they aspire to a higher education level are related to personal growth and social mobility, in order to get themselves and their families out of poverty. Nevertheless, they identified some obstacles, most of them external, like lack of money and gender stereotypes. These obstacles represent, at the same time, motivation to achieve their goals. Furthermore, they recognized that there is a long term process for the achievement of their educational goals.
