At the crossroads of uniting or dividing Quechua at the level of written representation, the Franciscan opts for the first alternative, showing the "harmony" between Quechua in the Mantaro Valley (Quechua 1) and Ayacucho (Quechua 11) . Such an option, contrary to popular belief, is never free from deeply ideological and political motivations, a fact that should be taken into account in the current debate on the scriptural development of Quechua.En el presente artículo se ofrece una interpretación de la obra lingüística del franciscano huancaíno José Francisco María Ráez como una ilustración típica de lo que modernamente se denomina planeamiento de Corpus. Ante la encrucijada de unir o dividir el quechua en el plano de la representación escrita, e l franciscano opta por la primera alternativa, mostrando la "armonía" existente entre el quechua del Valle del Mantaro (Quechua 1) y el de Ayacucho (Quechua 11). Una opción semejante, contrariamente a lo que se cree, nunca está libre de motivaciones profundamente ideológicas y políticas, hecho que debiera tomarse en cuenta en el debate actual del desarrollo escriturario del quechua.application/pdfspaPontificia Universidad Católica del Perú.
