| Sumario: | This paper seeks to establish a relationship between the phenomenon of gender identity assumption, according to Judith Butler’s queer interpretation of Freudian melancholy, and the cases of “pseudo-sympathy” proposed by phenomenologist Max Scheler. After devoting the first two sections to explaining the thoughts of the aforementioned philosophers, the final paragraphs highlight the points in common and outline avenues for future research. |
