The Dual Process Model proposes two types of tasks (loss-oriented and life-restoration-oriented) to be performed in order to cope with a breakup. Our aim is to analyse the differences in the use of these strategies depending on the gender of the individuals and their role at the onset of the breakup. The results conclude that women cope with breakups through restorative strategies. In terms of the initiator role, when the breakup is produced by mutual decision, mainly loss-focused strategies are used. |

Cependant, certains facteurs permettent aux sujets d’atteindre un bien-être adéquat. Le Dual Process Model propose deux types de tâches (orientées vers la perte et orientées vers la restauration de la vie) à accomplir pour faire face à une rupture. Notre objectif est d’analyser les différences dans l’utilisation de ces stratégies en fonction du sexe des individus et de leur rôle au moment de la rupture. Les résultats concluent que les femmes font face aux ruptures par des stratégies réparatrices. En ce qui concerne le rôle de l’initiateur, lorsque la rupture est le résultat d’une décision mutuelle, ce sont principalement des stratégies axées sur la perte qui sont utilisées.As rupturas sentimentais implicam um grande sofrimento psicológico e emocional. No entanto, existem fatores que permitem aos indivíduos alcançar um bem-estar adequado. O Modelo de Processamento Dual propõe dois tipos de tarefas (orientadas para a perda e orientadas para a restauração da vida) a realizar para lidar com uma ruptura. O nosso objetivo é analisar as diferenças na utilização destas estratégias em função do sexo dos indivíduos e do seu papel no início da ruptura. Os resultados concluem que as mulheres lidam com as rupturas através de estratégias restaurativas. No que respeita ao papel do iniciador, quando a ruptura é uma decisão mútua, são utilizadas sobretudo estratégias centradas na perda.Las rupturas sentimentales implican gran sufrimiento a nivel psicológico y emocional. Sin embargo, existen factores que permiten alcanzar un adecuado bienestar a los sujetos. El Modelo de Procesamiento Dual propone dos tipos de tareas (orientadas a la pérdida y a la restauración de la vida) que se deben realizar para afrontar una ruptura. Nuestro objetivo es analizar las diferencias en el uso de estas estrategias dependiendo del género de los individuos y de su rol en el inicio de la ruptura. Los resultados concluyen que las mujeres afrontan las rupturas a través de estrategias de restauración.
