However, in order to be effective, the comparison should be about credibly reflecting differences in the firms' performances, rather than capturing differences in their operating contexts. In this paper I apply a conditional data envelopment analysis (DEA) benchmarking technique that specifically controls for these different operating environments. As a result, I find that conditioning on the population density in each firm's area of operation affect the estimated efficiencies in a significant way. The results are consistent with previous findings in other countries (which use different methodologies), and are new in the case of Peru.engCENTRUM PublishingPEinfo:eu-repo/semantics/openAccesshttps://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/2.5/pe/Benchmarking the Efficiency of Public Water Companies in Peru: A Conditional DEA Approachinfo:eu-repo/semantics/workingPaperDocumento de trabajohttp://purl.org/pe-repo/ocde/ford#5.02.04reponame:PUCP-Institucionalinstname:Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perúinstacron:PUCPORIGINALCEFE_WP2015-11-0021.pdfCEFE_WP2015-11-0021.pdfTexto completoapplication/pdf1018570https://repositorio.pucp.edu.pe/bitstreams/865b590a-7b2e-4757-84d2-7c972108b930/download130ccb508fe1925123abef015520419dMD51trueAnonymousREADTHUMBNAILCEFE_WP2015-11-0021.pdf.jpgCEFE_WP2015-11-0021.pdf.jpgIM Thumbnailimage/jpeg17996https://repositorio.pucp.edu.pe/bitstreams/1aa2dadd-e4af-44d3-8f33-ef3345f55785/download79337a91d31bf698a06ccd05af4ea50bMD52falseAnonymousREAD20.500.14657/166805oai:repositorio.pucp.edu.pe:20.500.14657/1668052024-10-05 18:30:02.081https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/2.5/pe/info:eu-repo/semantics/openAccessopen.accesshttps://repositorio.pucp.edu.peRepositorio Institucional de la PUCPrepositorio@pucp.pe
