The tools used for analysis include theory of emotion, in addition to the theory of the “witty writer,” as Giordano understands it, without ignoring a certain critical tradition of travel literature such as Van den Abbeele (1992), Said (1978) and Musgrove (1999). The central idea proposes that “wittiness” in this travel journal is the best key to experiencing the text as opposed to mimetic theory.Este artículo plantea una relectura de Ecuador. Diario de viajes (1929) de Henri Michaux (1899-1984), en la cual se muestra la potencialidad de lo raro, de aquello que no debería estar en el texto por su cualidad de inútil en tanto texto de viaje, de aquello que no se puede valorar por su imprecisión mimética, sino por su condición ocurrente. Se utiliza la teoría de las emociones, además de aquella perteneciente al “escritor ocurrido”, según la entiende Giordano (2022b), sin obviar cierta tradición crítica de literatura de viajes como Van den Abbeele (1992), Said (1978), Musgrove (1999).
