description La presente monografía titulada “Drenaje de secreción subglótica en la duración de la ventilación mecánica en la Unidad de Cuidados Intensivos”, pretende dar información relevante sobre el drenaje subglótico en pacientes con ventilación mecánica. Tiene como principal objetivo Describir la utilidad del drenaje subglótico de secreciones en la prevención de la neumonía asociada al ventilador mecánico en la Unidad de Cuidados Intensivos, puede tener un efecto muy beneficioso ya que disminuye la infección y el uso de antibioterapia. Muchas veces dentro de la practica laboral el personal especialista en UCI debe ser un agente solucionador de problemas, mejorando el estado de salud y permanencia dentro de su hospitalización, es por ello por lo que debe controlar el drenaje de secreciones subglótica y realizar la capacitación del personal debido que en la mayoría de los estudios observador se encuentra la efectividad en la aspiración de secreciones subglóticas, mejorando así la capacidad pulmonar. En cuanto a la metodología del trabajo es una revisión documental descriptiva para dar a conocer sobre los beneficios que puede dar el drenaje de secreciones subglóticas con el fin de obtener factores relevantes en beneficio del paciente, la búsqueda realizada se dio en la siguiente base de datos: Lilacs, Pubmed y Epistemonikos. Esta monografía concluye que se encontró efectividad del drenaje de secreción subglótica lo cual disminuyo el tratamiento de la antibioterapia, previno la incidencia del NAV, menor número de estancia hospitalaria y complicaciones en la UCI.

Its main objective is to describe the usefulness of subglottic drainage of secretions in the prevention of ventilator-associated pneumonia in the Intensive Care Unit, it can have a very beneficial effect since it reduces infection and the use of antibiotic therapy. Many times within the labor practice, the ICU specialist personnel must be a problem-solving agent, improving the state of health and permanence within their hospitalization, which is why they must control the drainage of subglottic secretions and carry out the training of the staff because most of the observer studies found the effectiveness in aspiration of subglottic secretions, thus improving lung capacity. Regarding the methodology of the work, it is a descriptive documentary review to publicize the benefits that drainage of subglottic secretions can give in order to obtain relevant factors for the benefit of the patient, the search carried out was in the following database: Lilacs, Pubmed and Epistemonikos.
