Figley y Stamm en 1999, han demostrado que los servicios pre hospitalarios están sometidos a una especial tensión, debido a la toma de decisiones contra el tiempo que les toca asumir junto a una gran demanda de actividad física y emocional. Todas estas situaciones pueden llegar a producir alteraciones en estos profesionales en áreas diferentes. Objetivo: Determinar la prevalencia de Estrés Traumático Secundario en Bomberos voluntarios de la XXV Comandancia Departamental Lima Norte (XXV CDLN). Material y Métodos: Estudio descriptivo transversal. La población fue de 135 bomberos voluntarios de la XXV CDLN. Se utilizó el test Professional Quality Life Scale: Compassion Satisfaction and Fatigue Subscales IV, consentimiento informado y una ficha de datos sociodemográficos. Resultados: La prevalencia de Estrés traumático secundario en el nivel Bajo fue 97% y en el nivel Moderado fue 3%. Conclusión: La mayoría de bomberos voluntarios de la XXV CDLN que participaron en este estudio tienen un nivel bajo de ETS y una alta satisfacción por su labor. Se recomienda seguimiento por parte de la Oficina de Psicología a los casos identificados con nivel promedio de ETS y de Burnout.

In 1999, Figley and Stamm showed that pre-hospital services are under stress, due to the decision-making that they have to take on together with a high demand for physical and emotional activity. All these situations can produce alterations to these professionals in different areas. Objective: To determinate the prevalence of secondary traumatic stress in volunteer firefighters of the XXV Departmental Command Lima North. Material and methods: Transversal descriptive. The population was made up of 135 volunteer firefighters of the XXV Departmental Command Lima North. The test Professional Quality Life Scale, Compassion Satisfaction and Fatigue Subscales IV (Pro QOL-CSF-IV), informed consent and sociodemographic data sheet were used. Results: The prevalence of secondary traumatic stress was 97% of low level and 3% of average level. Conclusions: It is concluded that the most of volunteer firefighters of the XXV DCLN are in the low level of secondary traumatic stress and they have a high satisfaction for their work.
