This mixed-method study examined individuals incarcerated between 2019 and 2021 for intentional homicide and the perceptions of social sectors in Guanajuato. Using a diverse theoretical framework, including the adaptation of Human Development Ecological Theory, 134 multidimensional factors were identified, with expressive circumstances and problematic substance use as key influences. The study highlights the value of combining qualitative narratives from incarcerated individuals with quantitative approaches to design more effective policies.La creciente incidencia del homicidio doloso en Guanajuato y el enfoque limitado de su estudio han restringido la comprensión integral del fenómeno. Este análisis exploratorio-inductivo de enfoque mixto examinó a personas privadas de la libertad (PPL) con sentencia ejecutoriada entre 2019 y 2021 por homicidio doloso, así como la percepción de diversos sectores sociales en el estado. Se identificaron 134 factores multidimensionales de mayor prevalencia, destacando las circunstancias expresivas como motivación principal y el consumo problemático de sustancias.
