Descripción
Sumario:Diabetic foot is one of the most prevalent and severe complications that can develop in patients with diabetes mellitus, presenting numerous clinical challenges due to the complexity of the lesions and the multiple associated comorbidities. Effective resolution of this condition requires coordinated participation from a multidisciplinary team of specialists, including endocrinologists, surgeons, orthopedists, and specialized nurses. The objective of this paper is to present the "System for the Evaluation and Treatment of Diabetic Foot" as an integral and user-friendly tool that facilitates the management of diabetic foot in various clinical settings, including primary care, hospitals, and emergency services. This system standardizes evaluation and treatment, enhances communication among professionals, and has demonstrated, over more than 20 years, a significant reduction in the number of amputations and an improvement in clinical outcomes for patients.
