The story takes place in the 19th century, in a time of chaos, struggle, unrest, oppression and inequality. The backdrop is the French Revolution, an event that brought about great transformations. The narrative of Les Misérables is part of Romanticism, exposing issues related to certain values such as goodness and evil, justice and injustice, among others, represented by the characters, especially by the protagonist and the antagonist: Jean Valjean and Javert, respectively. Les Misérables neatly shows the nostalgia of a world full of contradictions, as part of the substratum of an entire era and artistic style. Through different intertwining stories, Victor Hugo develops the conflict between aesthetic and ethical experience. Los miserables (Les Misérables) es una obra clásica de la literatura universal escrita por el francés Victor Hugo. En la novela nos encontramos diversas concepciones de la justicia y la injusticia; por ello, el lector debe analizar distintos enfoques para determinar y comparar las elecciones éticas de cada uno de los personajes. La historia transcurre en el siglo xix, en una época caótica, de lucha, envuelta por el malestar, la opresión y la desigualdad. El escenario de fondo es la Revolución francesa, un evento que produjo grandes transformaciones. La narrativa de Los miserables forma parte del Romanticismo, expone problemáticas en relación con ciertos valores como la bondad y la maldad, la justicia y la injusticia, entre otros, representados por los personajes, especialmente por el protagonista y el antagonista: Jean Valjean y Javert, respectivamente. Los miserables muestra con pulcritud la nostalgia de un mundo lleno de contradicciones, como parte del sustrato de toda una época y un estilo artístico. A través de diferentes historias que se entrecruzan, Victor Hugo desarrolla el conflicto entre la experiencia estética y la ética.
