We have analyzed the graphic context regarding printing and the materiality of the first three editions, where we have seen the change of a book of ancient aesthetics in modern context until becoming an artistic and industrial bibliographic piece, which was also worth its author’s review. This also allows us to learn about Ricardo Palma as a writer with a tenacious aesthetic sense.La mirada crítica de Ricardo Palma sobre los aspectos gráficos de la imprenta en el Perú de fines del siglo xix, se plasmaron en torno a las transformaciones por las que pasó las Tradiciones Peruanas. Hemos analizado el contexto gráfico respecto a la imprenta, junto a la materialidad de las tres primeras ediciones, donde hemos visto el cambio de un libro de estética antigua en contexto moderno, hasta convertirse en una pieza bibliográfica artística e industrial; la cual también mereció la crítica de su autor.
