Through the researcher’s convenience criteria, 10 informers were selected who provided their testimony about their experiences. Results: the inferential analysis of the testimonies allowed us to establish three emerging categories in relation to the reading space: (1) expectancy in the educational community, (2) freedom to read the freely chosen texts, (3) improve the students’ learning process. Conclusions: the pleasure for reading is generated by the students’ interest and the opportunity to put them in direct contact with the texts. It is essential to reorganize libraries and generate many diferent reading spaces motivated by a dynamic model teacher whose reading experience motivates the pleasure for reading. Productive experiences must be replicated, disseminated and create the conditions for a reading culture.El presente trabajo tiene como objetivo dar a conocer la percepción de los docentes y estudiantes acerca del impacto que generó la implementación de su biblioteca abierta. El método que se aplicó a la investigación es biográfica; se utilizó el testimonio como técnica de recojo de información. A través del criterio de conveniencia del investigador, se seleccionó 10 informantes que brindaron su testimonio sobre la experiencia vivida. Los resultados arrojaron que el análisis inferencial de los testimonios permitió establecer tres categorías emergentes en relación con el espacio de lectura: (1) expectativa en la comunidad educativa, (2) libertad para leer los textos voluntariamente elegidos, (3) mejora de los aprendizajes de los estudiantes. Como conclusión se obtuvo que el gusto por la lectura se genera en los intereses de los estudiantes y en la oportunidad de ponerlos en contacto directo con los textos, por lo tanto, es fundamental reorganizar las bibliotecas y generar diversos espacios de lectura potenciados por un maestro modelo dinamizador cuya experiencia lectora motive el gusto de leer.
