We will be able to understand the intersection of law «in» literature by means of legal concepts and values, associated with labour conditions. Thus, we will demonstrate that in La tregua there is an intrinsic social critique of the historical reality of Montevideo represented in this novel, especially in terms of alienation.En este sucinto trabajo se aborda la acción humana en su dimensión narrativa, materializada en la novela La tregua (1960). Se utiliza la teoría literaria del derecho para analizar la vida y la obra de uno de los escritores más importantes de la literatura hispanoamericana del siglo xx: Mario Benedetti. Podremos comprender la intersección del derecho «en» la literatura por medio de conceptos y valores jurídicos, asociados a condiciones laborales.
