The poem confronts death, which implies a radical reification or objectification, through this love whose logic is dependent on Andean rationality. Considering the poem as a poetic reflection on the constitution of human existence, this article analyses Vallejo’s inscription of the life-death relationship as subjectificationobjectification. This allows us to understand the construction of subjectivity as the work of others that sustains the subject through the offer of love. Also, it allows us to approach from a different perspective to contemporary debates that discuss the constitution of human beings as subjects or objects. It implies to reinscribe or dismiss them; for example, the debates of euthanasia or pro-life vs pro-choice. El poema «Masa» de César Vallejo presenta una escena donde el amor de la masa humana tiene el poder de devolverle la vida a un ser humano. El amor está dirigido al cadáver en tanto el cuerpo es lugar de existencia y logra que este se levante como un ser humano. El poema confronta la muerte, que es la reificación u objetificación radical, a través de este amor cuya lógica es tributaria de la racionalidad andina. Considerando el poema como una reflexión poética sobre el estatuto de la existencia humana, este artículo analiza la reinscripción que hace Vallejo de la relación vida-muerte como sujetificación-objetificación. Esta permite comprender la construcción de la subjetividad como un hacer de los otros que sostiene al sujeto a través del ofrecimiento del amor. También permite abordar desde una perspectiva diferente una serie de debates contemporáneos donde se discute el estatuto de sujeto u objeto del ser humano, lo que implica reinscribirlos o desestimarlos. Es el caso de los debates acerca de la eutanasia o el de provida versus proelección.
