Given the proximity of the comme- moration of the first centenary of this historical event, Lima got prepared to receive the foreign delegations that would come to witness the various celebrations. In this context, the construction of a modern hotel that would house visitors was prioritized, with the Hotel Bolívar being inaugurated in 1924. This research analyzes the process followed for such a monumental work to be executed and, through primary sources, will demonstrate the relationship between architecture and patriotic celebrations.El 9 de diciembre de 1824 se llevó a cabo la batalla de Ayacucho, suceso que significó la consolidación de la proclamación de la independencia hecha en 1821. Ante la cercanía de la conmemoración del primer centenario de este evento histórico, Lima se preparó para recibir las comitivas extranjeras que vendrían a presenciar las diversas celebracio- nes. En ese contexto, se priorizó la edificación de un hotel moderno que alojara a los visitantes, inaugurándose el Hotel Bolívar en 1924.
