They were the heirs of traditional medicine of pre-Inca and Inca origin, and the depositaries of ancestral knowledge about the medicinal properties of plants from our immense natural heritage. During the viceregal and republican periods, tisanes were deeply rooted in Lima because they solved the health problems that afflicted the population, such as colds, muscular pains, respiratory ailments, anxiety, etc. For this reason, we consider it relevant to investigate the curative properties of this drink, which, in modern medicine, represents a great contribution to pharmacopoeia, as it is based on ancestral knowledge of the therapeutic properties of various plants. Las tisaneras, personajes que intervienen en la tradición «Con días y ollas venceremos», de don Ricardo Palma, eran aquellas vendedoras que ofrecían, en horas de la mañana, las tisanas, bebidas medicinales tan conocidas en el virreinato como en los primeros años de la república peruana, al punto de que podríamos decir que las tisaneras son las antecesoras de los emolienteros de nuestros tiempos. Ellas eran las herederas de la medicina tradicional, cuyos orígenes se remontan a la época preincaica e incaica, y las depositarias de conocimientos ancestrales sobre las propiedades medicinales de las plantas provenientes de nuestro inmenso patrimonio natural. Durante los periodos virreinal y republicano, la tisana tuvo gran arraigo en Lima porque solucionaba los problemas de salud que aquejaban a la población, por ejemplo, los resfríos, los dolores musculares, las afecciones respiratorias, la ansiedad, etc. Por ello, consideramos relevante investigar cuáles eran las propiedades curativas de esta bebida, la cual, en la medicina moderna, representa un gran aporte para la farmacopea, pues se sustenta en los conocimientos ancestrales sobre las propiedades terapéuticas de diversas plantas.
