In this view, the present article tries to point out the huge potential in terms of export that in the present represents on Japan for Peru. In the first part, there is a short diagnosis for the nature and crisis of Peruvian-Japanese trade. Secondly, the authors state the main tools of an appropiate pro-exporting commercial policy for Peru. Finally, we try to depict a strategy for penetrating the Japanese market.Históricamente, el comercio internacional de bienes se ha constituido -dentro de las relaciones económicas- en el principal vínculo entre el Perú y los demás países del mundo. Sin embargo, en la actual década, el comercio internacional del Perú enfrente una severa crisis, que se traduce directamente en una caída de sus exportaciones e importaciones. Es bajo este contexto, que este artículo pretende llamar la atención sobre el potencial en términos de exportaciones que actualmente representa uno de los principales socios comerciales del Perú: el Japón. En la primera parte, se realiza un breve diagnóstico de la naturaleza y la crisis actual del comercio peruano-japonés, haciendo especial énfasis en la necesidad de cambiar el patrón comercial entre los dos países.
