However, although this mobilization led to the obtaining of immediate economic demands, it was incapable of transforming the local unionism and the labor structure and culture.  The article exemplifies through the National Independent Union of Industrial and Service Workers, “Movimiento 20-32” (SNITIS), considered the emblematic union of the Matamoros labor struggle, the strengths and weaknesses of the labor movilization.El presente artículo analiza la movilización obrera de Matamoros, Tamaulipas, México, como el resurgimiento de la acción obrera en México, a partir de la recuperación de una identidad laboral y una potencialidad a la protesta latente, así como la utilización de nuevas estrategias de lucha y la participación de nuevos actores, dentro de un contexto de oportunidades políticas favorable para la participación obrera, el cual, si bien propició la obtención de demandas económicas inmediatas, fue incapaz de transformar la estructura y cultura sindical local.
